My Bio

Martina "Howard" Taylor | Candidate for City Council

Professional. Proven. Purpose-Driven.

With over a decade of experience as a State Campus Coordinator and QIDP, Martina brings an expert level of fiscal oversight and regulatory knowledge to City Hall. She's spent a career navigating complex government resources to manage residential programs and facilities—skills that she's ready to use to restore the after-school and youth nutrition programs and infrastructure our community was promised and deserves.

Beyond the office ,Martina is a true community pillar, having volunteered over 10 YEARS (1,000 +hours) with the Houston livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) and led initiatives for underprivileged youth and the homeless. Whether she is working with horses, crafting, or spending time with family, Martina is a neighbor who believes in transparency, accountability, and the "boots-on-the-ground" hard work it takes to revitalize our neighborhoods.

It’s time for leadership that keeps its word. It’s time for Martina "Howard" Taylor.

My Key Issues

Neighborhood Revitalization

True neighborhood revitalization begins by transforming neglected spaces into safe, accessible community hubs that foster local pride and economic opportunity. By leveraging my experience with state resource qualification, I will ensure our small town secures the funding needed for essential infrastructure without displacing the long-term residents who are the heart of our community.

Government ethics and anti-corruption measures

I will champion a "Clear-Glass" policy that mandates all city budget sessions and zoning deliberations are live-streamed and archived for easy public access. By leveraging my ten years of experience in state facility coordination and regulatory compliance, I will ensure that every dollar spent and every decision made is backed by a publicly available trail of accountability.

Education

I will fight to restore the essential after-school programs that were unjustly cut, honoring the broken promises of the past with a legally binding commitment to our families. By integrating robust, state-funded nutritional programs into these services, I will ensure that every child in a low-income household has a safe place to learn and a reliable meal every single day.

Aging in Place & Residential Safety

This policy prioritizes preventative home maintenance to reduce the risk of falls and emergency hospitalizations among low-income seniors. By funding youth-led "safety sweeps"—removing trip hazards, improving lighting, and performing yard cleanup—local governments can decrease the long-term strain on public health resources and allow seniors to remain in their homes with dignity.

Digital & Life-Skill Reciprocity

This policy promotes Mutual Mentorship rather than one-way charity. It frames the program as an exchange where seniors act as "Community Mentors," teaching life skills (budgeting, cooking, local history) in exchange for youth-led digital literacy training. Policy support should focus on creating "Intergenerational Hubs" that recognize the elderly as assets to youth development rather than just service recipients.

The "Tiered Youth Stewardship" & Workforce Pipeline

This policy establishes a Youth-to-Youth (Y2Y) Mentorship Framework that revitalizes low-income neighborhoods through structured "Green and Handy" community projects. By removing traditional age-silos, the policy creates a continuous developmental ladder where community enhancement serves as the classroom for both vocational skills and civic leadership.
